we ♥ .anna oh

This week, we're featuring some of the artists that we have on show at our "we ♥ what we like" exhibition
at Bleeding Heart Gallery (Friday 17th June, 6 - 10pm!).

Introducing Anna Oh

Barely 18 with a track record of exhibitions to be jealous of, Anna Oh is a Brisbane based artist we here at Strutten are very excited to have showing at our We <3 what we like exhibition this coming Friday.

Anna's work mainly revolves around the human body and face, a fascination drawn from life drawing, chromatic language, symbolic geometry (not indie triangles and that sort of shit) and very intricate detail.

I had the pleasure of picking Anna's brain to gain an insight into her work and artistic practice.

Whats your favourite medium to work with?

A nice, sharp pencil on some board or textured paper. Coloured inks, markers and pens are good too.

Which artists inspire you?

Anyone who works hard. Zdzislaw beksinski is an amazing man, he's a constant source of inspiration for me.

If you weren't making art, what do you think you'd be doing?

Something creative and entrepreneurial, like inventing facebook. I'd probably like to be a drummer or a snowboarder actually.

What's your favourite food?

Japanese and mexican! Always cookies and cream ice cream with malteser mix ins for dessert.

Do you listen to music while you work? If so what are you into at the moment?

Yep, recently I've been listening to erik satie, RJD2, salem, a lot of warp records stuff. Luv havin' some sweet tunez going.

What is your present state of mind?

Le tired (but pumped).

What do you think is the hardest part of making images?

For me, seeing it through to the end. I have a shit tonne of half finished drawings lying around, and i'll probably never finish them because I'm always too psyched to start new things. I should really calm down and focus on things one at a time.

What does the future hold for you?

Many adventures.

Thanks to Kat for putting the video together and make sure you come to Bleeding Heart Gallery this coming Friday to see Anna and many other artists strutten dat ass.
