Silo Spring 2011 :: Laura Perm-Jardin

In the lead up to Silo’s Spring 2011 Mixtape Launch tomorrow night at Jugglers ArtSpace, the gang here at thought it would be good to feature some of the artists that will be exhibiting as part of our Tunnel Artshow.

Laura Perm-Jardin

We’ve been following Laura Perm-Jardin’s work for a long time now. So have you, if you live in Brisbane and don’t live under a rock. Have you seen the new Dune Rats EP cover and launch poster? or the Lambda Red Cup illustrations? or those Cobra Kai club night posters? or Make The Girls Dance website? yeah, chu know her.

Daytime job:

A mixture of freelance jobs, soul sucking retail and branding for a club night.

Where can we see your work on the internets?

If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?

I would start an all girl band called ‘Yoko Oh-no’ and write songs about burritos and boys.
(author’s note: i would totally join it.)

What/who inspires you?

50′s style comic books, Adrian Tommine, vintage sci-fi book covers, Matthew Woodson, good stationary, screen printed gig posters, pretty girls with blunt bangs, pastel colours and clever puns.

Favourite website of the moment (doesn’t have to be art related):  Always

Fave place in Brisbane!

The Woolstore I live in in Teneriffe. The light is beautiful and the set up is spacious.

How would you describe the Brisbane art scene?

Very tight knit. Brisbane only has about 3 degrees of separation after all.

What’s next for you?

Completing a series of personal projects I’ve started, including delving into motion graphics and creating a comic book and saving to go to New York next year.

i hate what i dislike
